Maintenance Manager

Location: Naas, Co. Kildare
Contract: Full-Time | Permanent

An established manufacturing operation is seeking an experienced Maintenance Manager to lead all engineering, facilities, and maintenance activities across site. This position offers the opportunity to take ownership of plant performance, equipment reliability, maintenance strategy, and team development within a busy production environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead maintenance operations across all production and facility areas, driving improvements in plant reliability, efficiency, and equipment performance.
  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve maintenance strategies, procedures, and preventative maintenance programmes.
  • Work closely with production teams to support site schedules and resolve recurring maintenance issues through practical engineering solutions.
  • Manage and maintain the site’s Computerised Maintenance Management System (CMMS), ensuring accurate planning, reporting, and documentation.
  • Oversee electrical and mechanical maintenance activities, ensuring rapid diagnosis and resolution of equipment failures.
  • Ensure the ongoing availability and reliability of critical site utilities and services.
  • Support and participate in continuous improvement and lean manufacturing initiatives aimed at improving operational performance.
  • Lead, develop, and mentor the maintenance team, identifying training requirements and supporting succession planning.
  • Manage maintenance budgets, departmental expenditure, and cost-control initiatives.
  • Administer maintenance purchasing processes, including purchase order creation, approval, and reconciliation.
  • Monitor utility consumption and associated costs, including electricity, gas, refrigeration, steam, and water usage.
  • Build and maintain strong working relationships with key suppliers, contractors, and service providers.
  • Manage critical spare parts inventory, maintenance consumables, and engineering supplies.
  • Ensure service contracts are maintained for key equipment and critical infrastructure, coordinating scheduled servicing activities.
  • Manage contractor activities on site, ensuring full compliance with permit systems, risk assessments, insurance requirements, and contractor management procedures.
  • Deliver agreed maintenance KPIs relating to downtime reduction, maintenance performance, and Overall Equipment Effectiveness (OEE).
  • Ensure all statutory inspections, testing, calibrations, and certification activities are completed and documented.
  • Maintain accurate engineering records and site compliance documentation.
  • Ensure all plant equipment and instrumentation are calibrated within required timeframes.
  • Oversee inspection and certification programmes for fire protection equipment and site safety systems.
  • Ensure compliance with water hygiene and Legionella prevention programmes through regular monitoring and flushing schedules.
  • Support the installation, commissioning, and integration of new equipment and site infrastructure projects.
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as required to support site operations and business objectives.

Candidate Requirements

  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in a maintenance leadership role within an industrial or manufacturing environment.
  • Recognised electrical qualification with strong industrial maintenance experience.
  • Proven ability to apply engineering principles to practical maintenance and operational challenges.
  • Demonstrated project management experience, including the delivery of engineering and site improvement projects.
  • Strong track record of leading, developing, and motivating maintenance teams.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • Positive, proactive, and solution-focused approach to problem solving.
  • Experience driving continuous improvement initiatives and applying lean manufacturing principles.
  • Strong commercial awareness with the ability to manage budgets, suppliers, and maintenance expenditure.
  • Results-driven mindset with a commitment to maintaining high operational and service standards.
