Site Engineer

Hartley People Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Site Engineer on behalf of a well-established construction contractor. The successful candidate will join a growing project team delivering high-quality residential developments across Gorey and the surrounding area.
This is a permanent position offering long-term career progression, with an initial project based in Gorey before moving on to future developments within the South East.
Working closely with the Site Manager and Contracts Manager, the Site Engineer will play a key role in ensuring projects are delivered safely, accurately, on programme and to the highest quality standards.
The Role
The Site Engineer will be responsible for the day-to-day engineering function on site, ensuring all setting out, quality control, technical coordination and site records are completed accurately throughout the construction programme.
The successful candidate will work closely with subcontractors, design teams and the wider project management team to maintain programme, quality and compliance across all phases of the project.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out setting out for all aspects of the project using GPS and total station equipment.
- Ensure all works are completed in accordance with drawings, specifications and building regulations.
- Monitor workmanship and quality standards throughout the construction process.
- Maintain accurate site records including as-built information, surveys and quality documentation.
- Coordinate with Site Managers, subcontractors, architects and consulting engineers to resolve technical queries.
- Assist with the management of RFIs and drawing revisions.
- Carry out site inspections and quality checks throughout all stages of construction.
- Support health and safety compliance across the site and ensure works are carried out safely.
- Monitor progress against programme and highlight potential delays or technical issues.
- Assist with material control and ensure work is completed to specification before sign-off.
- Liaise with utility providers, local authorities and external stakeholders where required.
- Support project handover through the completion of snag lists, quality records and as-built documentation.
Requirements
- Degree or Diploma in Civil Engineering, Construction Management or a related discipline.
- Previous experience working as a Site Engineer on residential or commercial construction projects.
- Strong setting out experience using Total Station and GPS equipment.
- Excellent understanding of construction drawings and technical specifications.
- Good knowledge of Irish Building Regulations and current construction practices.
- Experience coordinating subcontractors and working within multidisciplinary project teams.
- Strong organisational skills with excellent attention to detail.
- Ability to identify and resolve technical issues on site.
- Full clean driving licence.
- Safe Pass and relevant CSCS certification.
