Job Overview
Hartley People Recruitment is currently seeking an experienced Maintenance Technician to join a well-established industrial manufacturing operation based in Wexford Town.
This is an excellent opportunity for a mechanically minded maintenance professional to join a busy production environment where equipment reliability, preventative maintenance and rapid fault diagnosis are key to maintaining operational performance.
The successful candidate will become part of an established maintenance team responsible for supporting a wide range of industrial processing and production equipment.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out planned preventative maintenance across production machinery and plant equipment.
- Respond to mechanical and electrical breakdowns, diagnosing faults and restoring equipment to operation as efficiently as possible.
- Perform routine inspections to identify potential equipment failures before they impact production.
- Repair and maintain conveyors, pumps, motors, gearboxes, bearings, chains, belts, valves, pneumatic and hydraulic systems.
- Assist with machinery installations, upgrades and continuous improvement projects.
- Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and maximise equipment availability.
- Complete maintenance records, work orders and associated documentation accurately.
- Support root cause analysis of recurring equipment failures and recommend long-term solutions.
- Maintain a clean, organised and safe working environment within the maintenance workshop and production areas.
- Ensure all maintenance activities are carried out in accordance with company Health & Safety policies and safe systems of work.
- Participate in planned shutdowns and equipment servicing as required.
- Contribute to continuous improvement initiatives focused on reliability, efficiency and operational performance.
Requirements
- Qualified Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Technician or Electrical Trade with strong mechanical maintenance experience.
- Previous experience working within a manufacturing, production or industrial maintenance environment.
- Strong mechanical fault-finding skills across industrial plant and production equipment.
- Experience working with pumps, motors, gearboxes, conveyors, bearings, pneumatics and hydraulics.
- Basic electrical fault-finding ability would be advantageous.
- Welding and fabrication experience would be beneficial.
- Ability to interpret technical drawings, maintenance manuals and equipment documentation.
- Good communication skills with the ability to work effectively as part of a maintenance team.
- Self-motivated with a practical, hands-on approach to problem solving.
