Senior Manufacturing Technician

Hartley People Recruitment is seeking an experienced Senior Manufacturing Technician to join a highly automated manufacturing operation in Kilkenny.
This is a senior, hands-on technical position suited to an experienced technician who can take ownership of equipment performance, resolve complex technical issues and drive improvements within a regulated production environment.
The role requires a high degree of autonomy and strong capability across mechanical, electrical, automated and pneumatic systems.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead advanced troubleshooting and fault diagnosis across mechanical, electrical, automated and pneumatic systems.
- Carry out and optimise preventative maintenance to improve equipment reliability and minimise downtime.
- Lead root cause investigations into equipment and process issues, using data and structured problem-solving techniques to implement sustainable corrective actions.
- Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities to improve OEE, yield and cycle time.
- Use CMMS and equipment performance data to identify trends and recurring faults.
- Lead continuous improvement initiatives relating to manufacturing equipment and processes.
- Support equipment installation, validation, modification and upgrade activities.
- Act as a technical point of contact for equipment-related issues, providing guidance to technicians and production personnel.
- Train and certify manufacturing associates on equipment and production processes.
- Coordinate external contractors and specialist technical interventions where required.
- Ensure maintenance and technical activities are completed in accordance with safety, quality and regulatory requirements.
Requirements
- Minimum Level 6 qualification in Engineering or a related technical discipline.
- Minimum 4 years’ relevant experience within a regulated manufacturing environment.
- Extensive hands-on experience working with automated manufacturing equipment.
- Strong technical capability across mechanical, electrical and pneumatic systems.
- Demonstrated experience troubleshooting complex, high-speed production equipment.
- Strong fault-finding and systematic problem-solving capability.
- Experience conducting root cause analysis and implementing long-term corrective actions.
- Good understanding of equipment and manufacturing performance measures including OEE, yield and cycle time.
- Experience using CMMS or equivalent maintenance management systems.
- Strong working knowledge of GMP and regulated manufacturing requirements.
- Experience contributing to equipment installation, validation, upgrades or process improvement projects.
