Design Technician
Location: Gorey Area, Co. Wexford
Full-Time | Permanent
Hartley People Recruitment is seeking a Design Technician / Engineer to join an established engineering consultancy in the Gorey area. This position is ideally suited to someone from an engineering, design or other technical background with strong CAD skills and good visual and spatial awareness.
The successful candidate will support the design of lighting systems and associated infrastructure, working from architectural, engineering and building services drawings to develop accurate, project-specific designs. Previous lighting experience would be an advantage but is not essential, as appropriate training will be provided.
Key Responsibilities
- Prepare and revise technical drawings using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
- Assist with the design of lighting systems and associated infrastructure across a range of projects.
- Interpret architectural, engineering and building services drawings to establish project requirements.
- Apply strong visual and spatial awareness to develop practical, project-specific design solutions.
- Review drawings and technical information to identify potential design or coordination issues.
- Assist with technical calculations, product selection and supporting design information as experience develops.
- Update drawings and designs where project requirements or site conditions change.
- Maintain accurate drawing records, revisions and supporting project documentation.
- Work across multiple projects while maintaining a high level of accuracy and meeting agreed deadlines.
Requirements
- Minimum NFQ Level 6 qualification in engineering or another relevant technical discipline.
- Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD or a similar drafting package.
- Ability to work with architectural, engineering and building services drawings.
- Good visual and spatial awareness, combined with strong technical and problem-solving ability.
- Excellent attention to detail and ability to work to a high level of accuracy.
- Proficient in Microsoft Office.
- Strong organisational and time-management skills.
- Ability to work effectively with minimal supervision.
- Excellent written and verbal English.
- Willingness to learn and develop within a specialist technical field.
- Full clean Irish driving licence and own transport are essential.
- Candidates must have the existing right to work in Ireland, as visa sponsorship is not available.
