Overview

Hartley People Recruitment is seeking an experienced Mechanical Automation Maintenance Fitter to join a well-established, high-volume manufacturing operation in County Waterford.

This role will focus on the maintenance, troubleshooting and optimisation of automated production equipment, ensuring machinery operates efficiently and downtime is minimised. The successful candidate will have a strong mechanical background, with experience working on automated systems in a fast-paced environment.

 

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical maintenance and repair of automated production equipment
  • Diagnose and resolve faults across mechanical, pneumatic and hydraulic systems
  • Support preventative maintenance programmes to maximise equipment uptime
  • Troubleshoot breakdowns and implement effective solutions in a timely manner
  • Assist with equipment upgrades, modifications and installations
  • Work closely with electrical and production teams to ensure smooth operation of machinery
  • Monitor equipment performance and identify opportunities for improvement
  • Ensure all work is completed in line with health & safety and operational standards
  • Maintain accurate maintenance records and documentation

 

Requirements

Essential

  • Qualified Mechanical Fitter, Maintenance Fitter, or equivalent trade
  • Strong experience in industrial or manufacturing maintenance environments
  • Proven ability in fault finding on mechanical and automated systems
  • Experience working with conveyors, motors, gearboxes and production machinery
  • Good understanding of pneumatics and hydraulics

Desirable

  • Experience working in automated or high-volume production environments
  • Exposure to food processing or regulated manufacturing environments
  • Basic understanding of electrical systems and automation processes
  • Experience supporting continuous improvement initiatives

 

Working Hours

  • Biweekly rotating shift pattern:
    • 7:00am – 3:30pm
    • 3:30pm – 12:00 midnight
  • Monday to Friday
