Setting Out Engineer

Hartley People Recruitment in partnership with our client are hiring for a Setting Out Engineer in Co. Wexford.

Our client is an established residential developer with a large housing scheme under construction in Co. Wexford. You will look after setting out and site engineering across the development, covering houses, roads, drainage and services. This is a long-term role on a live site with a steady pipeline of work ahead.

The Role

  • Set out house foundations, roads, footpaths, kerbs, drainage and underground services across the development.
  • Establish and maintain site control, benchmarks and grid lines.
  • Use total station and GPS equipment for setting out and for checking completed work.
  • Take levels and confirm finished floor levels, formation levels and invert levels.
  • Check work in progress against the drawings and flag any discrepancies to the site management team.
  • Produce as built records and survey data for completed sections of work.
  • Keep drawing registers current and work from the latest issued revisions.
  • Brief foremen and subcontractors on daily setting out requirements and answer queries on site.
  • Support quality checks so that work meets the drawings and the specification.
  • Assist with measurement, quantities and progress reporting when required.
  • Work to the site health and safety requirements at all times.

Requirements

  • Minimum 1 year in a setting out or site engineering role on civils or residential projects. 3 years or more preferred.
  • Qualification in civil engineering, construction or geomatics or survey, or equivalent site based experience.
  • Working knowledge of total station and GPS setting out equipment.
  • Able to read and work from construction and engineering drawings.
  • Understanding of roads, drainage and underground services on residential sites.
  • Accurate record keeping and attention to detail.
  • Clear communicator who can work with site teams, foremen and subcontractors.
  • Safe Pass and Manual Handling.
  • Full driving licence and own transport.
