Hartley People Recruitment is hiring on behalf of a well-established contractor operating in the building, retrofit, and renewable energy sector. The company delivers energy upgrade and retrofit projects across the South East and continues to expand as demand grows for sustainable housing improvements.

This role supports domestic retrofit programmes and energy efficiency upgrades delivered under national schemes. You will help ensure projects meet technical, safety, and quality standards while supporting Ireland’s sustainability and climate targets.

Role Overview

The Retrofit Quality Inspector is a field-based quality assurance position. You will inspect completed retrofit and energy upgrade works in domestic properties.

Your focus will be to confirm that all works meet required codes of practice, technical standards, scheme requirements, and regulatory obligations.

The role combines technical inspection, reporting, customer interaction, and collaboration with contractors and internal teams.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out post-completion inspections on domestic properties following retrofit and energy upgrade works
  • Confirm works meet applicable codes of practice, technical standards, specifications, and scheme requirements
  • Complete inspection reports and supporting documentation using digital and paper-based systems
  • Provide clear technical feedback and explain inspection findings to site teams and internal stakeholders
  • Communicate professionally with homeowners during inspection visits
  • Complete follow-up tasks such as phone calls, emails, and administration
  • Attend training and professional development as required
  • Follow company policies, procedures, and professional standards
  • Support other duties assigned by management when required

Requirements

  • FETAC Level 6 qualification in a relevant discipline such as; Plumbing / Electrical / Building Services Engineering / Construction / Civil Engineering
  • Sustainable Energy Engineering
  • Strong knowledge of construction or retrofit works
  • Familiarity with retrofit standards, codes of practice, and relevant schemes
  • Ability to assess completed work against technical specifications and quality standards
  • Strong attention to detail and a structured approach to inspections
  • Confident communication with homeowners, installers, and colleagues
  • Good computer skills and ability to use digital inspection systems
  • Ability to manage workload independently in a field-based role
  • Full clean driving licence

Desirable

  • RGII qualification
  • Heat Pump Installer training or certification
  • QC / Safe Electric registration
  • Familiarity with NSAI-certified systems and Irish retrofit standards
  • Membership or registration with CIOB or Engineers Ireland
