of commercial projects throughout Ireland.
Due to continued growth, our client is now seeking a Lighting Design Support Technician
/ CAD Technician to join their team in Waterford. This is an excellent opportunity for a
CAD Technician, Architectural Technician, Architectural Technologist, or graduate with
strong CAD skills who is looking to build a long-term career within technical design and
the construction industry.
The Role
This is a varied technical support position working closely with the lighting design team
to assist in the preparation of lighting layouts, calculations, technical drawings, and
project documentation.
The successful candidate will play an important role in supporting commercial lighting
projects from initial design through to completion. Full training will be provided in
lighting design software and industry standards, making this an ideal opportunity for
someone looking to develop specialist technical expertise.
Key Responsibilities
• Prepare and update lighting layouts using specialist lighting design software.
• Import, manage, and amend CAD drawings and project files.
• Assist in the preparation of lighting calculations, reports, schedules, and
technical documentation.
• Support senior lighting designers with project revisions and design updates.
• Review and interpret architectural and construction drawings.
• Coordinate project information with architects, engineers, contractors, and
internal teams.
• Ensure drawings and documentation meet project requirements and industry
standards.
• Maintain organised project files and technical documentation.
• Provide general technical and administrative support to the lighting design
department.
• Assist with the successful delivery of commercial lighting projects within agreed
deadlines.
Requirements
• Experience using AutoCAD or similar CAD software.
• Ability to read and interpret architectural, construction, or technical drawings.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Good organisational and time management skills.
• Competent IT skills, including Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
• Ability to manage multiple tasks and prioritise workload effectively.
• Professional, reliable, and proactive approach to work.
• Comfortable working independently and as part of a collaborative team.
• Willingness to learn new software and develop within a specialist technical field.
Desirable
• Experience as a CAD Technician, Architectural Technician, Architectural
Technologist, or similar technical role.
• Previous exposure to construction, engineering, building services, or design
environments.
• Experience with DIALux, Relux, Revit, or similar design software.
• Understanding of lighting, electrical, or building services projects.
• Recent graduates with relevant qualifications and CAD experience are
encouraged to apply.
