Payroll Manager

Key Responsibilities
Team Leadership & Oversight
- Manage, mentor, and support payroll team members, including onboarding and training new staff
- Oversee daily workflow to ensure payroll deadlines and banking cut-offs are consistently met
- Allocate and monitor queries from the internal payroll inbox to maintain efficiency
- Act as the escalation point for complex payroll queries
- Ensure adherence to standard operating procedures and internal payroll checklists
- Complete weekly internal reporting via Karbon HQ
Client Portfolio Management
- Manage your own portfolio of payroll clients, ensuring accurate and timely processing
- Monitor employer PAYE deadlines and ensure PSR submissions are uploaded to Revenue
- Review bank authorisation confirmations and ensure payments are processed ahead of deadlines
- Proactively follow up with clients where required information is outstanding
- Maintain excellent client service standards at all times
Compliance & Quality Assurance
- Ensure all payroll reports, payslips, and documentation are issued and signed off appropriately
- Monitor daily payroll checklists to ensure all stages are completed accurately
- Escalate ongoing or complex issues to senior leadership where required
- Support WRC and DSP inspections as needed
- Promote continuous improvement across payroll processes
What You’ll Bring
Experience & Qualifications
- 8–10 years’ payroll processing experience
- Proven people management and supervisory experience
- IPASS qualification (essential)
- Knowledge of Irish taxation
- Experience with Thesaurus and BrightPay (essential)
- Experience managing payroll client portfolios
- Experience with WRC & DSP inspections
- Professional accountancy qualification (ITI, CTA, ACCA, ACA) desirable
