SALES MANAGER

Hartley People Recruitment are seeking an experienced Sales Manager to join a leading manufacturing business serving highly regulated and advanced industries including semiconductor, biotechnology, pharmaceutical, food & beverage, and energy sectors.

The successful candidate will be responsible for driving sales growth, business development, key account management, and market expansion activities across existing and emerging markets. Reporting to the Technology & Development Director, the role will play a key part in delivering the company’s commercial and strategic objectives.

Key Responsibilities

Commercial Strategy & Growth

  • Support the development and execution of the commercial strategy
  • Deliver sales revenue and margin targets
  • Build and manage a strong sales pipeline
  • Identify and develop new business opportunities and markets
  • Lead key account management and market expansion initiatives

Cross-Functional Collaboration

  • Work closely with Operations, Finance, and Supply Chain teams
  • Ensure commercial commitments align with operational capabilities
  • Support pricing strategy, forecasting, and margin optimisation

Market & Business Insights

  • Analyse market trends, customer behaviour, and product performance
  • Translate data and insights into actionable commercial strategies
  • Prepare regular sales reports, forecasts, and performance updates

Leadership & Team Development

  • Lead, mentor, and develop the commercial team
  • Set clear objectives, KPIs, and accountability measures
  • Promote a culture of collaboration, performance, and continuous improvement

Stakeholder Engagement

  • Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders to support business growth
  • Align commercial activities with wider business objectives

Education & Experience

  • Degree qualification in Business, Marketing, Economics, or related discipline
  • Proven experience in sales leadership and commercial management
  • Experience working within manufacturing or technical industries is desirable
  • Strong stakeholder management and relationship-building skills
  • Ability to understand and communicate complex business models
