NPI Engineer
Location: Waterford
Hartley People Recruitment is working on behalf of a high-performance engineering and fabrication company supplying precision-built components to global OEMs across sectors such as power systems, off-highway equipment, and industrial enclosures.
This is an opportunity for an engineer with strong CAD skills and hands-on production experience to take ownership of NPI activity—bridging customer requirements with scalable, shop-floor-ready solutions.
Key Responsibilities:
- Lead NPI projects from design review through to production readiness.
- Manufacture and validate pre-production units for customer approval.
- Translate 3D models and specifications into full production documentation, including:
- PPAP (where applicable),
- Process routes and operator instructions,
- BOM and ERP component creation,
- Quality documentation aligned to customer needs.
- Drive DFM (Design for Manufacturability) improvements during early design stages.
- Liaise cross-functionally with production, quality, supply chain, and logistics teams to ensure smooth handover into serial manufacture.
- Create or revise 3D CAD models and 2D drawings for prototype and series production builds.
- Design jigs, fixtures, and basic tooling required to support production.
- Conduct time studies and participate in layout optimisation and process improvements.
- Visit customer sites for project kickoffs, feedback sessions, or issue resolution.
- Support the training of production operators on newly introduced products and processes.
- Document and track all NPI activities and ensure project close-out with full deliverable checklist completed.
Requirements:
- Minimum 2 years’ experience in NPI or manufacturing engineering.
- Mechanical Engineering degree or related 3rd level qualification.
- Proficient in 3D CAD—SolidWorks experience essential.
- ERP and BOM familiarity—able to input and manage technical data accurately.
- Prior exposure to metal fabrication, welding, or mechanical assembly environments.
- Excellent spoken and written English.
