Design Engineer

Overview
Hartley People Recruitment is currently seeking a Design Engineer to join a well-established Irish manufacturer and supplier of premium bathroom solutions.
This role will be responsible for translating site survey measurements and customer requirements into detailed technical drawings and production-ready designs.
Working closely with surveyors, production teams and installers, the successful candidate will ensure that both standard and bespoke solutions are designed accurately and efficiently for manufacturing and installation.
This is an excellent opportunity for a technically minded individual with experience in design, engineering or technical drawing, ideally within construction, glazing, manufacturing or bathroom products.
Key Responsibilities
• Produce accurate technical drawings and design layouts based on site survey measurements.
• Develop designs for custom and bespoke shower enclosures, wetroom screens and glass panels.
• Ensure all designs meet manufacturing, installation and quality requirements.
• Liaise with Bathroom Surveyors to clarify measurements and site conditions.
• Work closely with production teams to ensure designs can be manufactured efficiently and accurately.
• Review designs for potential installation challenges and make adjustments where required.
• Prepare technical specifications, drawings and documentation for manufacturing and installation teams.
• Support installers and internal teams with technical queries relating to designs and specifications.
• Maintain accurate design records and documentation for projects.
• Continuously look for opportunities to improve design efficiency and product performance.
Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate will have strong technical drawing ability and an understanding of how designs translate into manufactured and installed products.
Requirements
• Experience in technical design, engineering, CAD design or a similar role.
• Proficiency in CAD software or technical drawing tools.
• Strong attention to detail and ability to produce precise and accurate designs.
• Ability to interpret site measurements and technical specifications.
• Good understanding of manufacturing processes and installation considerations.
• Strong problem-solving skills and ability to adapt designs to real-world site conditions.
• Excellent communication skills when liaising with surveyors, production teams and installers.
Desirable
• Experience designing glass products, shower enclosures, bathroom fittings or similar products.
• Background in mechanical engineering, product design, architectural technology or similar.
• Familiarity with bespoke manufacturing environments.
• Experience working in construction, glazing, interiors or bathroom products.
