Quantity Surveyor – Construction Projects

Hartley People Recruitment is recruiting an experienced Quantity Surveyor on behalf of a well-established construction contractor delivering projects across the Leinster region. This is a permanent, long-term role offering exposure to projects from pre-contract stage through to final account.
The successful candidate will be responsible for the commercial management of projects, ensuring strong cost control, accurate reporting, and effective contract administration throughout the project lifecycle. This role suits a commercially focused Quantity Surveyor who can work closely with site and project teams to support delivery while protecting project margins.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage all commercial aspects of projects from tender stage through to final account.
- Prepare and submit monthly interim valuations and liaise with client representatives.
- Assess and manage subcontractor and supplier payment applications and reconciliations.
- Prepare and administer subcontract documentation.
- Develop and manage project budgets, cost plans and cashflow forecasts.
- Lead subcontract procurement, including tendering, negotiation and appointment.
- Manage and value variations, ensuring accurate records and cost recovery.
- Maintain detailed records of all contractual and commercial matters.
- Implement effective cost control and value engineering initiatives.
- Prepare, negotiate and agree final accounts with clients and subcontractors.
- Work closely with site and project teams to ensure alignment between commercial and programme objectives.
Requirements
- Previous experience working as a Quantity Surveyor within the construction industry.
- Strong understanding of commercial management and contract administration.
- Experience managing subcontractor accounts and final accounts.
- Ability to produce accurate cost reports, forecasts and valuations.
- Strong organisational, analytical and negotiation skills.
- Excellent communication skills and ability to work collaboratively with site teams.
- A detail-oriented approach with strong record-keeping capability.
