Joinery & Fit-Out Designer

Hartley People Recruitment is seeking a Joinery & Fit-Out Designer on behalf of an established contractor based in County Tipperary.

This is a hands-on technical design role focused on bespoke joinery, cabinetry, fitted furniture and interior fit-out works. The successful candidate will develop architectural and client requirements into detailed, practical designs for manufacture and installation.

The position would suit someone with a strong understanding of timberwork and joinery construction, who can produce accurate technical drawings and understands how designs translate from drawing through manufacture and ultimately installation on site.

Key Responsibilities

• Produce detailed joinery, cabinetry and fit-out drawings using CAD/design software.
• Develop architectural drawings, specifications and client requirements into practical designs for manufacture.
• Produce detailed drawings for bespoke cabinets, fitted furniture, timberwork and other joinery elements.
• Develop construction details, sections, elevations and assembly information.
• Prepare manufacturing and installation drawings for workshop and site teams.
• Consider materials, finishes, hardware, fixings and manufacturing methods during the design process.
• Coordinate dimensions and technical details with architects, Project Managers, site teams and other trades.
• Review architectural and construction drawings and identify potential clashes or design issues.
• Incorporate site measurements and survey information into final designs.
• Produce material schedules, cutting information and other production documentation where required.
• Revise drawings following client, architectural, manufacturing or site changes.
• Provide technical support to workshop and installation teams during manufacture and fit-out.
• Maintain accurate drawing revisions and controlled design documentation.
• Support multiple projects at different stages from initial design through manufacture and installation.

Essential Experience and Skills

• Previous experience in joinery, cabinetry, furniture or interior fit-out design.
• Strong CAD/design capability with experience producing detailed technical and manufacturing drawings.
• Good understanding of timber, sheet materials, cabinetry and joinery construction methods.
• Ability to interpret architectural drawings, specifications and technical information.
• Understanding of how joinery designs are manufactured, assembled and installed.
• Ability to develop practical details from architectural or client requirements.
• Good understanding of materials, hardware, fixings, tolerances and finishes.
• Strong attention to detail and practical problem-solving ability.
• Ability to manage several design projects and changing priorities.
• Good communication skills and confidence dealing with workshop teams, site teams, suppliers and project management.

Desirable Experience

• Experience designing bespoke cabinetry, fitted furniture or architectural joinery.
• Previous experience within a joinery workshop, cabinet-making or fit-out environment.
• Knowledge of AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Cabinet Vision or similar design software.
• Experience producing manufacturing information, cutting lists or material schedules.
• Experience carrying out or working from site surveys and measurements.
• Exposure to projects from initial design through manufacture, installation and final fit-out.
