Hartley People Recruitment are thrilled to offer an enticing opportunity for a Research and Development Manager to become a part of our client’s team based in Ballyragget, County Kilkenny. This role, reporting to the Head of Dairy & Applications, will entail overseeing the development of new products designed for both ingredients and consumers, destined for retail, foodservice, and manufacturing sectors. The successful candidate will be tasked with leading a team of technologists and maintaining a close working relationship with the organisations’ Commercial, Marketing, Operations, and Quality teams.
Main Responsibilities:
- Lead and nurture a team of technologists to support and advance the organisations product offerings and deepen technical expertise.
- Oversee the technical aspects of new product development for protein, fortified beverages, and cream, from conceptualization to launch within cross-functional teams.
- Collaborate with Marketing and Commercial teams to co-create and develop the product portfolio.
- Maintain close communication with Commercial, Operations, and Third-Party Manufacturers to effectively bring new products to market.
- Engage in collaboration with internal cross-functional teams for supplier relationship management, acting as the customers’ advocate across technical platforms and internal processes.
- Provide technical insights for the development of the organisation’s product strategy.
- Interface with customers, visiting and understanding markets at a technical level to identify essential functional and nutritional product requirements, and oversee the development of recipes and specifications.
- Address technical production, product application/quality, and consistency issues through effective problem-solving.
Revised Key Requirements:
- Possess over 10 years of industry experience in product development within the food industry.
- Demonstrate expertise in dairy chemistry.
- Exhibit proficiency in writing technical dossiers and translating scientific findings into actionable recommendations for the business.
- Capable of working efficiently in cross-functional teams.
- Possess excellent communication skills, especially in technical areas, enabling interaction at all organizational levels.
- Experience in beverage product development is desirable.
