Lab Technician

Hartley People Recruitment are thrilled to offer an enticing opportunity for a Laboratory Technician to become a part of our Client’s team based in Dungarvan, Co. Waterford. As a proficient Lab Technician, you will collaborate with a committed team of technicians, a laboratory manager, and fellow team members in conducting various Chemistry and Microbiology analyses that are integral to maintaining milk quality control and ensuring quality assurance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conducting Raw Milk Analysis, which encompasses:
  • Utilising chemistry methods such as FTIR, Gerber, Kjeldahl, LCMS/MS.
  • Performing antibiotic and inhibitor analysis.
  • Applying microbiological methods, including the testing of private well water, SPC, and culture methods.
  • Conducting Rapid Microbiology Tests, including Bactoscan, Enzyme Linked Immunosorbent Assays (ELISA), and PCR.
  • Ensuring meticulous completion of all documentation and maintaining records.
  • Participating in internal and external proficiency tests.
  • Taking responsibility for equipment cleaning, maintenance, and calibration.
  • Maintaining day-to-day laboratory hygiene standards.
  • Promptly escalating any non-conformances or potential non-conformances and actively participating in laboratory investigations and continuous improvement initiatives.

Key Requirements:

  • Possess a qualification in Microbiology, Food Science, Chemistry, or an equivalent quality-related course.
  • Preferably have knowledge and experience in the Agri/Dairy sector, though not mandatory.
  • Exhibit effective communication skills and the ability to collaborate within a team.
  • Demonstrate excellent IT proficiency.
  • Exhibit the capability to interpret test data and strong problem-solving skills.
  • Display flexibility and dynamism, coupled with strong organizational abilities.
  • Willingness to undergo further relevant training and continuous improvement
